Role: HGV Class 1 Driver (Walking Floor)
Location: Lewes, East Sussex
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm
Pay: £17.00 per hour + £26.20 per night away
Nights Away: 3-4 nights per week
Overtime: Available
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join one of our longstanding clients, an established transport and logistics business based in Lewes.
This role involves operating a Walking Floor trailer, completing deliveries and collections across the South East of England. The successful candidate must be comfortable staying away from home approximately 3-4 nights per week.
The Requirements:
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
- Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous Class 1 driving experience
- Walking Floor experience preferred
- Good understanding of road safety and load security
- Comfortable operating heavy goods vehicles safely and efficiently
- Reliable, flexible and professional approach
- Must be willing to stay away from home 3-4 nights per week
The Role:
- Carry out deliveries and collections across the South East
- Operate a Class 1 vehicle with a Walking Floor trailer
- Complete daily vehicle and trailer safety checks
- Ensure loads are secure and within legal weight limits
- Operate Walking Floor equipment and hydraulic controls safely
- Position trailers correctly for safe loading and unloading
- Monitor unloading operations and follow site safety procedures
- Complete delivery paperwork accurately
- Comply with drivers’ hours and tachograph regulations
- Report vehicle defects and maintain high safety standards
